Thursday, December 3rd at 6pm, Nora will perform a new work with long time collaborators – performer MacKenzie LeTorre and visual artist Kate Holcombe Hale for her solo exhibition, “I’m here if you need me.” at the Trustman Gallery at Simmons University
This duet continues Nora and MacKenzie’s exploration of partnership both within supportive structures and environments full of obstacles. The pair have collaborated with Kate and her large scale sculptures in various galleries and museums -each time with a slightly different focus of their movement in relation to the static art.
In “I’m here if you need me”, limits are tested by investigating balance and movements from hyper dependency to freedom. The dancers navigate the remaining negative gallery space between the sculptures and the audience with various energies. At times the performing bodies become part of the sculptures and at times they become part of the public.
